Several boatyards and marine service providers operate around Clear Lake, offering everything from routine maintenance to full-scale repairs. With their upgraded new lift, Southern Boatworks is a great option across the board, from fiberglass repair to haul-outs and general maintenance. Our customers have also found success with South Texas Yacht Services in the Watergate Yachting Center.
Just east of Clear Lake, Seabrook Shipyard has another travel lift capable of handling large yachts and multi-hulls as well.
Where Can I Sharpen My Skills?
Several yacht clubs and sailing schools serve the Clear Lake area. Bay Area Sailing School, based at Watergate Yachting Center, offers ASA-certified courses for new and experienced sailors. Houston Yacht Club, located in La Porte, has an active racing scene and sailing programs. Texas Corinthian Yacht Club in Kemah provides members with racing and training opportunities.
Dining & Accommodiatons
Several restaurants and bars are within a short drive of Watergate Yachting Center. Opus Ocean Grille offers seafood and steak with views of the marina. Sundance Grill II, located at Waterford Harbor, serves seafood and American fare. Tookie’s Seafood in Seabrook is known for its shrimp and oyster dishes, while T-Bone Tom’s in Kemah serves Texas-style barbecue and steaks.
For a more casual setting, Barge 295 in Seabrook is a floating bar with live music. Monkey Bar in Kemah overlooks the boardwalk and draws a boating crowd.
Several hotels provide accommodations near the marina. South Shore Harbour Resort and Boardwalk Inn are unique, nearby options for those needing a place to stay near Clear Lake.
