Where Can I Keep My Boat?
The New Orleans Municipal Yacht Harbor features over 400 boat slips and has openings for both transient and long-term slips. Contact NOMYH to find out more about their availability and accommodations.
More slips in West End can be found just south of the park in the Orleans Marina. South Shore Harbor Marina is located just 15 minutes from the New Orleans CBD and right next to the New Orleans Lakefront Airport. Both of these marinas are managed by the Lakefront Management Authority and can be applied for here.
On the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, there are several recommended marinas at a range of accommodations and price points. Salty’s Marina in Madisonville offers covered slips and a convenient location. Marina Beau Chene is a private marina tucked away in the Beau Chene neighborhood.

Sintes Boat Works and Schubert’s Marine are family-owned boatyards local to West End. Generally speaking, it is best to get your boat’s out-of-water maintenance for the year lined up during your Christmas vacation when they are slower.
Seabrook Harbor & Marine is another great boatyard option on the industrial canal, about 5 miles east. While the West End yards use cranes to lift boats out of the water in their spaces, Seabrook utilizes a travel-lift, which makes it particularly well-suited for larger boats, including multi-hulls.
On the Northshore, Pontchartrain Yacht Works offers quality boat repairs and haul-out services with their new 55,000 lb capacity travel lift.

Consider lessons and classes from the New Orleans Power Squadron (America’s Boating Club) or the Community Sailing Center. If you plan to keep your boat here long-term, the nearby Southern Yacht Club and New Orleans Yacht Club are active in the social, racing, and cruising scenes.
The Southshore clubs engage with Pontchartrain Yacht Club in Mandeville and Tammany Yacht Club in Slidell during seasonal regattas such as the Lake Pontchartrian Racing Circuit.

Near the West End marinas, there are many delicious options with a range of flavors. Our favorites in the area are Sala Nola, The Blue Crab, Russell’s Marina Grill, R&O’s, Ming’s, Rizzuto’s, and Pizza Domenica. The local watering holes are JB’s Fuel Dock, Parlay’s, and The Basin.
If you’re looking at boats for sale in New Orleans and want to make a vacation out of your time here, you may want to get a hotel closer to downtown like Hotel Monteleone, The Roosevelt, or NOPSI. Downtown is also loaded with incredible restaurants like Arnaud’s, Brennan’s, Antoine’s, and more. After-dinner libations are even easier to find, you might enjoy The Carousel Bar, Old Absinthe House, or Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop.
For visitors to the Northshore, a visit to one of the Pat Gallagher’s restaurants is well worth your while.
